Musthafa, the son of a daily wage earner, hailed from a remote village in Wayanad, Kerala. While growing up, he faced a severe money crunch at home which led him to work as a daily wager. The lack of basic amenities at home made him realize the importance of money at a very early stage in life.
Musthafa was an average student and assisted his father in his labor jobs after school and during the weekends. But when he failed in class six, his father wanted him to stop studying and to work with him on a full time basis. Musthafa dropped out of school when he was 10 years old but later rejoined. After completing his schooling, Musthafa got admission in Farooq College in Kozhikode (Calicut) for the pre university course. Later, he secured the 63rd rank in the state in the engineering entrance exam and got admission to the Regional Engineering College (now National Institute of Technology), Trichy, India in Computer Science. That was his first step toward a successful career.
